Mattress Delivery Melbourne — What to Expect When Your New Bed Arrives

Buying a new mattress online or in-store is the easy part. Getting it delivered safely to your bedroom is where things can get complicated — especially in Melbourne, where apartments, townhouses, and tight staircases are common. Here's exactly what to expect when your Best Beds mattress is on its way.

Our Melbourne Delivery Zones

Best Beds delivers across the Melbourne metropolitan area from our Thomastown warehouse at 16 Cliveden Ct. Delivery fees are based on distance:

  • Zone 1 — up to 15km from Thomastown: $50
  • Zone 2 — 15km to 30km: $70
  • Zone 3 — 30km to 45km: $95
  • Zone 4 — 45km to 70km: $125

All deliveries are ground floor only as standard. See our full delivery information page for zone details and how to get a quote.

Delivery Timeframes

Most Melbourne metro deliveries are completed within 3–7 business days of order confirmation and payment. Because our mattresses are Australian made and built to order, your mattress is freshly made — not pulled from a warehouse shelf where it's been sitting for months.

Standard Delivery — What's Included

Our standard delivery is a one-person, one-van service to ground floor only. The driver will bring your mattress to your ground floor entrance. If you need the mattress carried upstairs, into a lift, or through a tight access point, please let us know in advance — we can arrange a two-person delivery service for an additional charge.

How to Prepare for Delivery Day

  • Measure your access points — doorways, hallways, and stairwells. A Queen mattress is 153cm wide and needs adequate clearance to manoeuvre
  • Clear the path — remove any furniture or obstacles between the front door and the bedroom
  • Remove your old mattress — we don't remove old mattresses as part of our standard service, so arrange disposal in advance
  • Have someone home — deliveries require a signature, so ensure someone is available at the delivery address
  • Inspect on arrival — check your mattress carefully before signing. Any damage must be reported within 48 hours

Freight Insurance

We strongly recommend adding freight insurance when you order. Mattresses are large, valuable items and transit damage — while rare — does happen. Freight insurance covers you against damage, loss, or delays at minimal cost relative to the value of your mattress.

Showroom Pickup Option

Prefer to collect in person? Pickup is available from our Thomastown showroom by appointment. Please bring a valid photo ID and ensure your vehicle has adequate space — a Queen mattress requires a van, ute, or large SUV with the seats folded flat.
