No Returns or Refunds Policy

Due to strict hygiene and health regulations governing bedding products, Best Beds does not accept returns or offer refunds on mattresses, pillows, mattress protectors, and bedding items except where products are supplied faulty. This policy is non-negotiable and applies to all purchases.

Why We Cannot Accept Returns

Mattresses and bedding products are classified as hygiene-sensitive items. Once a mattress has been delivered, unwrapped, or used, it cannot be resold due to:

  • Health and safety standards preventing resale of bedding products
  • Hygiene regulations protecting all customers
  • Product integrity concerns once packaging is removed
  • Industry-standard practices across all mattress retailers

We strongly encourage you to visit our Melbourne showroom to test mattresses before purchasing, or carefully review all product specifications online.

Faulty Products Only

All products are carefully inspected and quality-checked prior to dispatch. We only accept claims for products that are genuinely faulty due to manufacturing defects present at the time of delivery.

Strict 48-Hour Notification Requirement

If you believe your product is faulty, you must notify us within 48 hours of delivery. This is a strict requirement and is non-negotiable.

Claims made after 48 hours will not be accepted. After this period, we cannot verify whether any issue was present at delivery or occurred during use, and therefore cannot process late claims.

What Constitutes a Faulty Product

A faulty product is one with a genuine manufacturing defect that was present at the time of manufacture and delivery. This may include:

  • Structural defects in the mattress core or support system
  • Manufacturing errors affecting the integrity of the product
  • Defective materials or workmanship evident upon delivery

What Is NOT Considered Faulty

The following are not considered manufacturing faults and are not covered:

  • Change of mind or comfort preference after purchase
  • Normal softening or adjustment period (mattresses require 30-60 days to break in)
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections that do not affect functionality
  • Damage caused after delivery, including stains, tears, or physical damage
  • Issues arising from improper use, lack of adequate support, or unsuitable bed base
  • Normal wear and tear or body impressions under 3cm depth
  • Subjective comfort issues or firmness expectations not met

Faulty Product Assessment Process

To report a faulty product within 48 hours of delivery, contact us with:

  • Order number and purchase date
  • Clear photographs showing the alleged fault
  • Detailed description of the issue
  • Proof of delivery date

Once we receive your claim:

  1. Our team will assess whether the issue constitutes a genuine manufacturing fault
  2. We reserve the right to inspect the product in person or request its return for examination
  3. If confirmed as faulty, we will determine the appropriate remedy at our discretion (repair, replacement, or refund)
  4. Our decision on the assessment is final

Please note: Best Beds reserves the right to reject claims that do not meet our criteria for manufacturing faults or that are submitted outside the 48-hour notification period.

Limited Returns (Exceptional Circumstances Only)

In rare and exceptional circumstances, Best Beds may, at its sole discretion, agree to accept a return. This is not a right and is assessed case-by-case. If we agree to accept a return, strict conditions apply:

Return Conditions (Non-Negotiable)

  • Pre-Approval Required: Returns must be pre-approved by Best Beds management in writing before any return is initiated
  • 35% Restocking Fee: A non-refundable 35% restocking and handling fee applies to all approved returns
  • Shipping Costs: Original delivery charges are non-refundable, and the buyer pays all return shipping costs
  • Unused Condition: Product must be completely unused, unopened, in original sealed packaging with all tags intact
  • 7-Day Window: Return must be arranged within 7 days of original delivery
  • Inspection: Returned products will be thoroughly inspected. If any signs of use, damage, or opened packaging are found, the return will be rejected and the product returned to you at your expense

Refund Processing

If a return is approved and the product passes inspection, refunds (minus 35% restocking fee and all shipping costs) will be processed within 7-14 business days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method only.

Warranty Coverage

Selected mattresses include manufacturer warranties covering specific structural defects. Warranty periods vary by product (typically 5-10 years) and cover only manufacturing defects as defined by the manufacturer.

Warranty exclusions include:

  • Comfort preferences or subjective firmness issues
  • Normal wear and tear, body impressions under 3cm, or softening over time
  • Damage from improper use, stains, burns, cuts, or physical damage
  • Use without proper foundation or bed base support
  • Mattresses used in commercial settings or for purposes other than residential sleep

Warranty claims are subject to manufacturer assessment and approval. Best Beds acts as a facilitator only and does not guarantee warranty claim outcomes.

Your Responsibility as a Buyer

By purchasing from Best Beds, you acknowledge and accept:

  • You have read and understood this returns policy in full
  • You accept that mattresses cannot be returned for change of mind or comfort preference
  • You understand the 48-hour notification requirement for faulty products
  • You have had the opportunity to test mattresses in our showroom or review specifications online
  • Firmness and comfort are subjective and may differ from your expectations
  • Mattresses require a break-in period of 30-60 days

To avoid disappointment and ensure you select the right mattress:

Consumer Law Statement

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
